Wonderwall

by Rob on

Yesterday evening was fun. Singing very loud the Wonderwall from Oasis together with a friend. I cannot else then admit that her voice is a lot better then mine :P. I am still surprised there were no complains from any neighbors, but then again that might be advantage of a free standing house.

The more I read the lyrics, the more I like it. Tonight I will look if iTunes has it available so I can buy it and send it to my iPod.

*starts to sing again*

(And no…. no one should try to see things that are not there :P)

Wonderwall
(Oasis)

Today is gonna be the day
That they’re gonna throw it back to you
By now you should’ve somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I’m sure you’ve heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don’t believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
But I don’t know how

Because maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You’re my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day?
But they’ll never throw it back to you
By now you should’ve somehow
Realized what you’re not to do
I don’t believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead to you were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would
like to say to you
ButI don’t know how

I said maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You’re my wonderwall

I said maybe
You’re gonna be the one who saves me ?
And after all
You’re my wonderwall

Said maybe
You’re gonna be the one that saves me
You’re gonna be the one that saves me
You’re gonna be the one that saves me

Something from the past….

by Rob on

Some days ago I was looking for something an the attic… but I never found what I was looking for. But I did found this….

My old Petri SLR…. With this camera it all really started. It was so great to have it in my hands again…. Feels it weight compared to my new Nikon DSLR… to play with it again. Maybe one day I get a new battery for it… and a film. And then I will go with it for the last time.Someone whispered it into my ear and she was right. It is a relic… something to honor!!!!

Photo-books

by Rob on

Yesterday I was walking over the May-market here in the Haaksbergen. This May-market is a yearly event with a fair and all kind of other enjoyable things.
The weather was rather good and so it was very busy. Even a bit too busy to my taste. I don’t mind lots of people around me, but I want to be capable to move normally.

Part of this yearly event is a second hand market. People and companies can sell off their second hand and old stuff. Most of it is just rubbish, but well.. as long people are willing to pay for it.

But when talking about second hand, there is always one thing very interesting… books!

Now there is lately with my new interest in photography one kind of books I am looking for. These are photo-books. Not the books about how to make photographs, but those books that show the work of (wellknown) professional photographers.
Apart that it is an joy to look at the pictures in these books, one can learn a lot of it.

And yes, I found some nice photo-books on the second hand fair!

Next Saturday I will go to the city of Enschede and visit there a store that is famous about their second hand books. Lets hope I can find some good photo-books there as well!

A nice walk…

by Rob on

Yesterday Sanne and I had the same thoughts… the weather was too good to stay home and do nothing. But for once there was really nothing to do in or around the town of Haaksbergen. So when I called her, she told me that she was just about to call me :).

So we ended up making a nice walk in the “Scholtehagen’-area near Haaksbergen.
People must have thought that Sanne and I were a couple. Well, I couldn’t care less if they did. Almost everyone claims to be open minded, but when a woman and a man get together, enjoy theirselves and feel comfortable, then there has to be more to it… So much for the being open minded of most people.

Anyway, it was nice to walk around the pond that is located there. Relaxed we talked about some things that kept us busy lately. A lot of the things we talked about was nothing new to know, but there were also here and there some new things.
It is good to talk. To listen to the others thoughts and to exchange opinions.

While we walked and talked,we passed the local “heemtuin” (a cultivated garden with plants and flowers that common to the local area). To our surprise it was open and we decided to visit it. And here discovered we had a mutual interest for plants and flowers. So it was a joy to see and talk about all the plants. And I have to admit that Sanne knew many more plants by name as I did.

There was also a shed with bee hives. I am always impressed by these little busy animals. And unlike other people I am not afraid of them. As long I don’t make them angry or am a threat for them, there is no reason to be affraid. I had to laugh softly when I heard the remarks of some other people about how close I got to the hives.

Ahh well… I don’t think I have to tell where this afternoon ended. Somewhere in the middle of Haaksbergen with a cold glass of beer, a glass of wine and some snacks. Hmmm one glass of beer and one glass of wine? ….. *WINK*

Some people

by Rob on

Today I was accused that I couldn’t stand critics…

Now can I not? Hmmm… let see. This person announced his self “being better” loudly, so everyone standing around could hear it.
I still wonder why he has choisen for this approach. If I want to address someone on something like that I wait on the right moment, do it privately and in positive way. Not as an elephant in a porcelain shop…
That he has a different opinion as me, no problem with that. That his opinion differs from common accepted standards and methods, also no problem with that. But that he places his own opinion as the only acceptable, there I have a problem with… a big problem even.

His last remark made me almost laugh… he said that is was not meant negative. With the way he acted it was about the same as first smacking someone hard in the face and then claiming he is really against any violence.

Well, as he addressed me in this way, I have the right to check with others what they think about this. And if those inform why I ask, I tell them why. And with this the person that accused me started to have problems, because these people pushed his remarks away as rubbish.

I always wonder about the reason why people need to act this way… Well, that is something to ponder about on the terrace at “De Markt 2” with a cold glass of beer :P
