Now Marion is taking a nap on the couch in the living room, I have the opportunity to write something down that is on my mind almost the whole day…
People tend to give each other expensive gifts… for birthdays, for Christmas and other celebrations. And there is nothing wrong with that. After all the négligee (robe, dressing gown or whatever is the best translation for “ochtendjas” 😛 ) I bought for Marion’s birthday was not really cheap either. It will be very useful for her when stays in one of those hotels…. and much nicer as the old white one she has now (and of which she said already some time ago that it needed to be replaced).
Although I have to admit that I hear of presents people giving each other that are so expensive that I don’t consider them presents anymore. But that is of course my opinion!
But funniest thing is that, at least for me, small presents tell me a lot more then very expensive presents. For instance the 3 wooden birds that suddenly on a morning were standing in front of my television. Of course I know that Marion placed them there. But it gave me a real good feeling when I discovered them on a morning standing there.
And there are more examples of that kind of gifts I can mention. Just as the little wooden heart that some months ago suddenly was placed in one the two displays cases that I have in my living room…
There is a small story to that wooden heart.
When I discovered that wooden heart in the display case, it made me feel nice. And so the next time that I met Marion, I thanked her for it. She tilted her head and with a grin she asked me when I discovered it. And I told her that I did the day before. She started to laugh and told me that the wooden heart was for at least 3 weeks already in the display case…. Ough, so much for looking around in your own house.
Anyway… just wanted to say that these kind of small gifts are very important to me!!!
I so agree.
Sorry that my birthday became so chaotic :(.
