My colleague Hans, who is a big fan of Pink Floyd, invited me and some other people to come along to a performance of Pink Project in the city of Beverwijk.
Pink Project is a Dutch group of artists who since 1984 have the goal to play Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” in the same spirit as it was played in the past…
I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the performance. Before the break the played music for the Pink Floyd album “Animals” (one of my favourites). It looked that they needed a little time to warm up, but it went from good to very good :).
After the break I was even more surprised, because what I expected was that they played some songs from “The Wall” album. How wrong could I be, it was almost the complete Wall-show with special effects and everything. Even the Wall was there. I was amazed, I can say nothing different then that.
What I also liked was that at some places they addressed thing that are currently going on in the world. As as example in the song “Mother” there is the text “Mother should I trust the government?” and there was a picture displayed of Wilders, Rutte and Verhagen (three important figures in our current government). They made a statement about this government… and a statement I fully support, because I think our current government really cannot be trusted at all (specially because of their alliance with the PVV. With that the other politic parties are for me complete no trustworthy anymore).
Of course there is clear reference between the show and what happened in the past in Nazi Germany. The mix of “The Wall”-animations and historic Nazi-movies displayed clearly a warning. A warning that still exist in the world, even in our own country.
Anyway, it showed very clearly that they have a lot of experience with playing “The Wall”-show. I enjoyed every minute of it. And I will not be surprised if I will visit more of their concerts in the future.
Kerel, Gaaf man.
Als je weer een keertje gaat, laat het dan weten. Die wil ik ook wel zien.
Dat zal ik zeker doen, Patrick….
