I think it will be no surprise that strawberries are very healthy and have quite some benefits.
They are a very good source of vitamin C and manganese, but also contain vitamin B9 and potassium.
Further more they contain antioxidants and compounds that are beneficial for the heart and blood sugar level.
But when I was young girl and my mother had strawberries, she always removed the little leaves at the top of the strawberries. She learned that you should not eat them.
Well, guess what? It turns out that those leaves are very healthy as well. They are rich in natural sources as iron, vitamin C and K, and contain antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory agents. And hey also contain ellagic acid which has a positive effect on the immune system.
So the next time you eat strawberries, eat the leaves as well. They even don’t taste bad :-).
That is indeed something I didn’t know.
I eat often Greek yoghurt with strawberries… from tomorrow with leaves :-).
