This weekend we had a video call with Mel; Mel at her home on Lesvos, Rob at Heemskerk and me at Haaksbergen. As it is now over a year we met Mel in person, we regularly make video calls. We really miss her.
Mel had some bad news. The COVID-19 situation became worse. Greece moved from “orange” to “red” and some regions, even to “deep red”. More strict lockdown restrictions will be issued.
Groceries and alike only after confirmation by text message. And only within the municipality boundaries or to a distance up to 2 km away from your home.
Also for walking and exercising a text message confirmation is needed. Only per foot or bicycle. One will not be allowed to go by car to another area.
Curfews will be in place, times will be depending on the area.
At weddings and funerals only up to 9 persons are allowed.
As Mel stated: “Thank goodness, we have now a ‘smart’ lockdown because the previous two were obviously stupid…”
As for us Dutch, we still dare to complain…
You know, I can’t complain at all. I live outside the village and have our orchard next to my house. I can wander there. A lot of people here don’t have that luxury.
But yes, I miss you two also a lot.
I should write here something to help me kill the time.
Miss you too, Mel. It is way too long ago we talked in person. And I miss your Greek hugs :-).
And of course, you are more as welcome to write here!
I hope that in July everything is more or less back to normal. I have plans to go at that time to Lesvos!
