At first I wanted to make this post private, but you all are right: If there is no real need for a post to be private, it should be placed as public. So this post will be public accessible :-).
In December 2018, Richard and I announced our engagement. And it was a great move forward. The last two years have been tremendous, even with the Corona crisis around us. We became even closer together than we were before.
The last month Richard and I have been talking a lot.
We agreed so much on what we were talking about, that the outcome could not be clearer.
I had a very confident conversation with my “aunt” Marion (she’s the daughter of my dad’s oldest brother, so she’s really my niece. But she feels for me as that aunt who you can always trust). Yesterday I learned that Richard also had a conversation with somebody he really trusts… Rob! And I am hundred percent sure that Marion and Rob spoke to each other, which is only good and understandable of course. I think they were very happy for us with what they learned.
See, the point is… Richard and I are moving in together. We both think that the time is right for this.
We made a choice for my apartment. It is larger and in a nicer location as Richards place. And we have an option to buy it, which we most likely will do.
We have already started moving a few things from Richards place to my apartment or our apartment, I should say now: -). For larger things, we’ll need help from some others, but even with Corona around, we’ll find a way to do it.
We are very thankful for the help from my uncle Jan (Marions dad). He will help us to set up a decent cohabitation contract (or a “samenleveningscontract” as we call it in Dutch). We both believe that getting this right is very important.
My uncle will also be there to assist us with other legal issues if they arise and he is the right person for this.
We are both happy and excited about this step we make in our life. The only thing we would like to do is go on holiday to a warm country, but who knows in a few months…
And oh… as soon the Corona situation allows it, we will organize a BBQ to celebrate this happy event (I am sure we may use my parents or Marions garden for this :-)).
