Autumn “Bokbier”

by Rob on

As Patrick already posted on his blog…. The “bokbier” is back again and it tastes this year so very good again!!!

It is always a surprise again how the “bokbier” is every year again. And yes, it can really differ per year. But this year it is as I already said, very good again.
And another nice thing is that the local market has a real nice offer on it. 2 Sixpacks for just €6.00!

BTW “bok-bier” has nothing to do with a “bok” (which is the Dutch name for a male goat). It is strong malty lager beer of German origin. The Bavarians of Munich pronounced “Einbeck” as “ein Bock”, and thus the beer became known as “bock”.

Most Dutch breweries have their own “bokbier”, but I think Grolsch Autumn bokbier beats them all.

“The Abbot of the Vale”

by Rob on

In my last message here on my blog I told that I bought music of Tony Hazzard through iTunes. I knew his music from way back. It is great to hear that music again. Maybe not a surprise, but Tony Hazzard as songwriter wrote some very great lyrics. One of his songs about something very dear to me :P

*Sings along loud and way out of tune*

“The Abbot of the Vale”

I got a friend who I can turn too
He makes me happy, stops me feeling blue
Tells me the truth, if I wanna see
He is good friend, made to you and me

I drunk whiskey from a crystal glass
Drunk sweet water. I even smoked grass
But all these things just don’t compare
to my friend with the golden hair

He is the Abbot of the Vale
Too much of him turns white shade of pale
He is the Abbot of the Vale
Too much of him won’t live to tell the tale

I got the noonday in the white caught sun
Got my job. Got a loaded gun
I’m dying to shoot. And I shoot to kill
But my friend says no, so don’t think I will

He is the Abbot of the Vale
Too much of him turns white shade of pale
He is the Abbot of the Vale
Too much of him won’t live to tell the tale

Drawing off my own beer :-)

by Rob on

I got a small gift from Marion… a Grolsch Cheersch.

With the Grolsch Cheersch you can draw off your own beer at home. It has the small fresh taste as the beer you get in a café. I think this because it also draw off under pressure with CO2. I like this better then beer from a bottle.
The replaceable green bottles contain 2 liters of beer (pilsener). Each bottle comes with a new CO2 capsule.

It is really fun. I considered often to buy one, but for some reason I never did. Marion must have noticed that and bought one for me :).

Here some more information about the Grolsch Cheersch

*Happy as a young boy*

Markt 2

by Rob on

Yesterday I have been with my friend Patrick once again to my favorite place to be “De Markt 2”. We have been there before, but this time Patrick didn’t have to drive anymore. So he could enjoy some beers as well.

We first had there a good dinner. Delicious as always. Someone should remind that the next I eat there that I have to take a Mixed Grill :P.
After that enjoyed “some” bokbeers… Grolsch bokbeer is so good this year. It almost looks like it becomes better each year. We talked about many subjects. Laughed and joked around.
We enjoyed the view of the many young ladies there… sure, they are rather young compared to our ages. But there were some moments I wished I was 20 again and know what I know now :).
On a certain moment those bokbeers started to have their effect, so we switched around between coffee and cola… to end up with normal pilsener again (see picture above). When we asked for the bill we both had a “Ough”-reaction :P. But it was well worth is, it was a very nice evening.

Oh yes, this added to the things I will do soon:

26 januari: Concert The Golden Earing
2 februari: Concert The Nits

Yay :)
